VINTAGE RETRO 1950s MID CENTURY OAK DESK UPCYCLED

Avintagegolden oak large two-drawer officedesk upcycled. Stamped: GR VI (George Rex VI) with the Coronet above. Originally made by \’Harris & Sheldon LTD\’ in Birmingham 1951.The desk\’s main frame and legs are made in solid oak. We have sanded back and wax-polished all of the oak frame and legs. It is in very good vintage condition with minor wear for its age. The removable legs have butterfly bolts, making it easier to move around the home. The legs can also be stored in a plywood section under the desk making it easy for storage or transportation. The drawers have solid mahogany sides and backs with dovetail construction and work well. The desk is sturdy in structure with no loose joints.The two drawers have been sanded smooth and the fronts professionally painted in mid-century colours with a high standard glossy finish, sensitively showing the original dovetail joints. One of the drawers is lockable and we have made two working keys to fit the original lock. The insidesof the drawers have been lined with a contemporary vintage-style pattern and are very well-presented.The top inset did show plenty of signs of wear to it with lots of indentation marks etc. We have infilled the inset and professionally painted a mid-century grey with a satin finish, creating a smooth, non-slip working surface with hints of character to the history of the piece.Measurements: 152cm wide, 91cmdeep, 76cm high, the kneehole space is 71.5cm high x 54cm wide.*Please note -the items displayed with the desk are NOT included in the sale (or otherwise for sale).If you have any questions, please contact us and we will be happy to help you, viewing can also be arranged at our studio in Birmingham.
